MD

Jason V. Brown, MD, is Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is interested in resident and medical student education, orthopedic injuries, and trauma resuscitation. He has been on Vanderbilt faculty since 2020.  

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Auburn University in 2005 while studying Biomedical Sciences. He then spent a prolonged time working in research and development for a biomedical firm in the southeast focusing on biochemical and immunological markers of hematologic malignancies. Seeking to work in more of a clinical setting, he enrolled at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, graduating in 2013.  He then joined the emergency medicine residency at the University of Maryland, graduating in 2016.  

In 2016, Dr. Brown began his active duty career with the United States Air Force. He served numerous deployments as both an emergency medicine physician and critical care air transport physician in settings ranging from humanitarian relief to combat support. In 2020, he separated from active duty after obtaining the rank of major and earning the Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, National Defense Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border, and NATO Medal.  

He is joined at Vanderbilt by his wife, Emily, who is a physician within the Department of Medicine, and their two Weimaraners.
