Jeremy S. Boyd

Jeremy Boyd, MD, FACEP, MAEMUS, joined Vanderbilt in 2013 as the department's first emergency ultrasound fellow. He subsequently served as the emergency ultrasound fellowship director, as well as the division director in 2019. In 2022, he was named the department’s first Director of Faculty Education and Training, overseeing continuing professional development for faculty across each of the department’s clinical sites in addition to serving as core faculty for the residency and overseeing resident education in emergency ultrasound. Since 2024, he has served as the Vice Chair of Faculty Development & Mentorship, focusing on the growth and professional development of Emergency Medicine faculty. 

Dr. Boyd’s interests include the teaching and use of point-of-care ultrasound in multiple settings (ED/ICU, international, and prehospital), medical education at all stages, and especially faculty education and leadership coaching. He teaches and has lectured on point of care ultrasound locally, nationally, and internationally from Memphis to Fairbanks to Georgetown, Guyana. 

He has served in multiple national leadership roles including the board of directors of the National Resident Matching Program (the Match), the Society for Clinical Ultrasound Fellowships, as well as the American College of Physicians. He was Chief Resident at the University of Cincinnati where he completed residency training prior to joining faculty at Vanderbilt. A Memphis native and Philosophy major at Rhodes College, Dr. Boyd is a graduate of the Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program of Columbia University and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. 

He enjoys exploring Music City and the natural surroundings of Middle Tennessee with his wife, a middle-school librarian, their three young daughters, and Satulah, their minimally behaved golden retriever.
