Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine
Dr. Abbey Smiley

Abbey Smiley, MD, is Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her academic interests include emergency medical services and resident education, addiction medicine, geriatric emergency medicine and the delivery of more affordable healthcare through the development and implementation of community-based mobile health interventions. 

Dr. Smiley grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and completed her medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her emergency medicine residency at The Ohio State University and her fellowship training in emergency medical services at the University of Massachusetts. 

Dr. Smiley is a dedicated to patient advocacy, and is actively involved in the American College of Emergency Physicians-formerly serving as resident member of the Ohio ACEP Board of Directors, EMRA Board of Directors, as well as serving as a member of various ACEP national committees. 

In her free time, she enjoys traveling the world, hiking, skiing, and spending time with her friends and family.
