Alexa Thomas, MD, is the Advanced Emergency Ultrasound Fellow and an instructor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). Her professional interests include critical care ultrasound, echocardiography, medical education, program recruitment, and technology in education. 

Dr. Thomas spent most of her formative years in Colorado. She attended the University of Denver where she studied biology and Spanish, followed by obtaining her medical degree at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Minnesota. Having always dreamed of pursuing emergency medicine, she was thrilled to complete her residency training at VUMC. While there, she had the honor of serving as chief resident. 

Outside of work, she enjoys trying new restaurants, live music, hiking, board games, and traveling to visit friends and family.
