MD

Originally from Absecon, New Jersey, Bernardus Willems, MD, earned his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from the University of Delaware and completed medical school at Stony Brook University on Long Island. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency training at Vanderbilt in 2026 and subsequently joined the faculty. 

Throughout his medical training, Dr. Willems has maintained an interest in advocacy and professional engagement, including involvement with the Latino Medical Student Association, where he previously served on the executive board. As he begins his faculty career, he is particularly interested in expanding his work in quality improvement. 

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his dog, Duke, traveling, and staying active.
