Dorris E. Powell-Alexander

Dorris E. Powell-Alexander, MD, serves as the Director of Community and Belonging and the Medical Director for the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) Program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine with a passion for improving health outcomes among socially excluded populations. 

Her academic and clinical interests include medical education, geriatric emergency medicine, sickle cell disease and intimate partner violence and sexual assault. A proud alumna of Tuskegee University, Dr. Powell-Alexander balances her leadership roles with being a mother to three adult children.
