Dr. Doug wallace

Doug Wallace, MD, DTMH, CTropMed, is Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Assistant Medical Director, Clinical Operations for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His professional interests include graduate and undergraduate medical education, clinical informatics, clinical operations, disaster and event medicine, as well as global health and tropical medicine. 

He grew up in rural Arkansas and completed his medical training at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he was a member of the AOA honor medical society. He went on to train at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) for Emergency Medicine residency, which he completed in 2019, receiving the Bobby Lewis, MD resident of the year award. Dr. Wallace did additional fellowship training in mass casualty incidents and global health at UAB, serving as the Clinical Practicum Fellow for the research education core of the UAB Research Center of Excellence in Arsenicals. He also obtained a diploma in tropical medicine and hygiene through the Gorgas course in Lima, Peru and a certificate of tropical medicine from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene during his fellowship. 

Dr. Wallace joined the faculty at UAB in 2020 before transitioning to Vanderbilt in 2022 where he works in the Operations Division and as an EPIC physician builder for the department. In his personal life, he enjoys live music, hiking, mountain biking, traveling, and spending time with his wife Amanda.
