Why did you choose VUMC Emergency Medicine: During my away rotation at VUMC in medical school, I was struck by the caliber of the faculty, residents, and staff in the Emergency Medicine Department. Everyone was exceptionally knowledgeable, supportive, and dedicated to providing outstanding patient care. I knew it was an environment that would challenge me, push me to grow, and ultimately shape me into a well-rounded emergency physician.

Interests in emergency medicine: Toxicology

Five-year plan: Complete EM residency, climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, start a family with my wife, and buy our forever home.

If not EM, what? I would be a fighter pilot. I actually began college at the U.S. Air Force Academy with intentions of becoming a pilot, following in my father’s footsteps until an unexpected health issue led to me changing career paths.

Hobbies: When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our miniature long-haired dachshund exploring Nashville. Some of my hobbies include trying new recipes and restaurants, exploring the outdoors (hiking, camping, rock climbing) and working out (running, weightlifting, and volleyball).

Random fact about me: A video I submitted of my pet pig Petunia was featured on John Bergeron’s last show of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (and I won some money from it!)
