Why did you choose VUMC Emergency Medicine? Having been at Vanderbilt already, I could see firsthand how close the residents are, how supportive the leadership is, and how every person treats patients and peers with great respect. When it came time to apply, it was hard to imagine any other program could be as tightly-knit as VUMC EM, so it was a no-brainer!
Interests in emergency medicine: Research, social emergency medicine, leadership and operations
Five year plan: In five years, I plan to be in academic emergency medicine, striking a balance between clinical work, research and operations. With an interest in social emergency medicine, I hope to identify ways to improve patient care and resource utilization across socioeconomic statuses.
If not EM, what? I would be a zookeeper. I used to work summers at a zoo and love learning about animals.
Hobbies: Hiking, homebrewing, watching sports (Go Bengals!), trying out new restaurants with my wife, playing with my pets.
Random fact about me: I won a free year of chicken wings from Buffalo Wild Wings through a radio contest.
