Dr. Joan Henning

Joan Henning, MD, is Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and works part-time in the adult emergency department. She serves on the Clinical Competency Committee, Wellness Committee and is active with supporting women working in the emergency department.

She is a Tennessee native and received her B.S. from Mississippi State University, then attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Dr. Henning completed her emergency medicine training at Northwestern University where she served as chief resident.

She and her husband Chris have two boys, James and John. She enjoys birding, sailing, biking, reading and gardening. She is on a tireless pursuit to find balance in life, work, play and endless projects maintaining a 1920 craftsman bungalow.
