Dr. John Pitt

John D. Pitt, III, MD, is Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine and Medical Director, Vanderbilt Bedford County Hospital. His interests within the field of medicine include procedures, sepsis, EKGs, interdepartmental relations, and third world medicine. He has a particular interest in mentoring other physicians or anyone else in the medical field regardless of title or role.

Dr. Pitt is a native of Illinois, but has lived in eight different states. He obtained his undergraduate degree at The University of Montana in Missoula, medical school at Ross University SOM in Dominica, residency at The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, and a fellowship year at Jackson Madison General Hospital. 

He is married to the love of his life, Briana, and they have three children: Beckham, Coraline, and Ezra. He enjoys good jazz, good coffee, journaling, Civil War history, and hiking in the western U.S.
