Jonathan M. Bruhn

Jonathan M. Bruhn, MD, is a Clinical Instructor and Simulation Fellow in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University Hospital. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Vanderbilt before continuing his training in simulation. His professional interests include simulation-based education, medical education, and global health.

Dr. Bruhn grew up in Big Sandy, a small town in rural East Texas. After high school, he spent a year in Germany as a Rotary Youth Exchange student. He attended Texas A&M University, where he earned a degree in chemistry and studied Spanish abroad in Argentina. After college, he lived in Japan for two years while teaching English through the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program. He later returned to Texas to attend McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where he met his wife, Eden. The two couples matched at Vanderbilt for emergency medicine and orthopedic surgery residency programs.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys endurance sports, paddleboarding, language learning, traveling, and trying new restaurants—particularly those with plenty of spicy food.
