Why did you choose VUMC Emergency Medicine? I was lucky to have the opportunity to see VUMC EM during an away rotation and fell in love with the program! Everyone I worked with was extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly made me feel like a part of their community even as just a visiting student. Their focus on resident education combined with the level of patient complexity was something I wanted within my own education. I knew that this program would prepare me to be the best physician, educator, and individual for my future patients.

Interests in emergency medicine: Event medicine, emergency medical services (EMS), ultrasound, care in resource-limited settings

Five year plan: My current plan after residency is to complete an EMS fellowship. I’ve been involved with EMS for multiple years and would love to be able to continue my education in that field and to be an educator and leader in that area. I hope to work in a split academic/community role within my future.

If not EM, what? Within medicine, I would probably do paramedic/firefighter. Outside of medicine, something with nature conservation.

Hobbies: Working out, hiking, sports, video games, reading, spending time with friends/family/my cat

Random fact about me: The area I grew up in was where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed.
