Katrina A. Gipson, MD, MPH, FACEP, joined the faculty at Vanderbilt in 2025 as the Emergency Department’s inaugural Director of Advocacy. At her prior institutions, she was the founding Health Policy Fellowship Director. Dr. Gipson is the secretary of the emergency medicine section of the National Medical Association (NMA).
Dr. Gipson’s professional interests include the optimization of the care of older and vulnerable populations in the emergency department. She is a native of Ann Arbor, Mich. and received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Yale University, Master of Public Health in Health Management & Policy from the University of Michigan, and an Doctor of Medicine with Honors with Distinction in Research from Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Gipson completed her internal medicine intern year and emergency medicine training at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and a health policy fellowship at George Washington University.
In her free time, Dr. Gipson enjoys travel, music, and exploring Nashville.
