Matthew Pirotte, MD, is the Residency Program Director and the Keith D. Wrenn Executive Director in Education at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is passionate about teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels with a focus on procedures, practice transition, and personal finance.
Dr. Pirotte did his undergrad at the University of Kansas and medical school at Loyola University in Chicago. He completed residency in emergency medicine at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago where he served as chief resident. He has been an attending in the emergency department at both Loyola and Northwestern, and served as both assistant clerkship director and assistant residency director prior to becoming program director at Vanderbilt in 2020. He has also worked extensively in community emergency medicine in both Illinois and Tennessee.
He lives in the 12 South neighborhood of Nashville with his wife Christiana (an anesthesiologist at Vanderbilt), their children and their English Springer Spaniels (Lilly and Archie!). In his free time, he enjoys reading novels, entertaining, cooking, outdoor sports, and gaming.
