Matthew Pirotte

Matthew Pirotte, MD, is the Residency Program Director and an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He is passionate about teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels with a focus on procedures, practice transition, and personal finance. 

Dr. Pirotte did his undergrad at the University of Kansas and medical school at Loyola University in Chicago. He completed residency in emergency medicine at Northwestern where he served as chief resident. He has been an attending in the emergency department at both Loyola and Northwestern and served as both assistant clerkship director and assistant residency director prior to becoming program director at Vanderbilt in 2020.

He lives in the 12 South neighborhood of Nashville with his wife Christiana (an anesthesiologist at Vanderbilt), their children and their English Springer Spaniels. In his free time, he enjoys reading novels, entertaining, cooking, outdoor sports, and gaming.
