Dr. Matthew Swarm

Matthew Swarm, MD, joined as Vanderbilt Department of Emergency Medicine faculty in 2016. His professional interests include pediatric emergency medicine, residency leadership, and point-of-care ultrasound.   

He is an Indiana native and completed his undergraduate work at Indiana University-Bloomington, followed by medical training at Indiana University School of Medicine. He stayed at IU and completed a combined emergency medicine/pediatrics residency where he served as chief resident during his fifth year.  

Since joining the faculty at Vanderbilt, Dr. Swarm has completed a focused faculty fellowship in point-of-care ultrasound. He splits his time between the adult and pediatric emergency departments at Vanderbilt.    

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and dogs, being outdoors, international travel, personal fitness, boating, and college athletics.
