Why VUMC Emergency Medicine: VUMC sees an incredible breadth of medically complex patients and produces physician leaders that will be prepared to practice in any clinical setting. I knew from my interview day that this program cultivated a culture that I wanted to be a part of. Every resident and faculty member I spoke to was genuinely interested in connecting with me and offered support every step of the way. I could tell that this program truly cared about training residents in a supportive environment where they could become excellent physicians.

Interests in Emergency Medicine: Sports medicine, EMS, pediatrics

Five-year plan: Currently my interests are everywhere (squirrel brain). My plan is to develop a plan while in residency! I will keep an open mind, learn something new every day, and five years from now I will be an attending at an academic or community center… or pediatric hospital…or working in critical care. Regardless of where I end up, I plan on utilizing my skills in multiple settings while mentoring medical students and residents.

If not EM, what? I would probably be a ski team coach, or an acrobat.

Hobbies: Skiing, mountain biking, golf, climbing, anything outside really.

Random fact about me: Before medical school, I was a circus acrobat!
