Why did you choose VUMC Emergency Medicine: My top priority was finding a program that offered exceptional training across all aspects of emergency medicine, including high patient volumes, high-acuity sick patients, considerable trauma exposure as well as longitudinal peds exposure, ultimately shaping me into an elite EM physician. Equally important was a collegial environment among residents and attendings that fostered collaboration and mutual support. Additionally, I sought a well-established program that would open doors both now and throughout my career. In short, Vanderbilt EM checks all these boxes, and joining the “Vandy Fam” has been one of the best decisions for myself and my family. This program genuinely cares about your growth as a person and as a physician, and I am proud to be part of this exceptional community.

Interests in emergency medicine: Ultrasound, Global EM, critical care

Five-year plan: To become a highly skilled, highly competent, compassionate emergency medicine physician, while also being a dedicated husband and father, prioritizing quality time and fostering a nurturing environment for my wife and two young daughters.

If not EM, what? I likely would have remained engaged in the realm of international volunteer work, potentially as a facilitator, to empower others to participate in and collaboratively drive meaningful change.

Hobbies: Having traveled to over 30 countries and spent five years abroad, I enjoy exploring language and culture through experiences. Reading and volunteer work bring me joy. I love dancing to Latin music, especially Bachata. I thrive on intense workouts like CrossFit, boxing, and hiking.

Random fact about me: After hiking El Camino de Santiago for the second time, I found myself back in Pamplona, where I “unintentionally” ran with the bulls during the San Fermín Festival aka El Encierro.
