Rachel Nelson, MD, is Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In addition to her clinical work, she currently serves as the Residency Site Director at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital.
Dr. Nelson was born and raised in Nashville. After completing her undergraduate education at Furman University, she went on to get her medical degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. She then did her residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, where she was selected as Chief Resident. She joined the faculty at Vanderbilt in 2020.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, playing music, and spending time with her husband and two sons.
