Saralyn R. Williams

Saralyn Williams, MD, is committed to excellence in education for both undergraduate and graduate medical education. She oversees the longitudinal medical toxicology curriculum for the emergency medicine residency. She had previously served on the Sub-Board for Medical Toxicology, the Emergency Medicine Residency Review Committee (RRC) for the ACGME and as a Senior Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. 

Dr. Williams has earned a number of teaching awards for renowned didactic and bedside teaching and also received one of the prestigious Vanderbilt CREDO awards. In 2023, she was the recipient of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Thomas A. Hazinski, MD Award for effectiveness in mentoring and professional development of faculty. Her areas of focus are education, mentorship, and a persistent enthusiasm about anything Tox. 

She graduated from Duke University School of Medicine and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina. She completed her Emergency Medicine residency and Medical Toxicology fellowship at University of California, San Diego and remained on faculty at UCSD until 2006 when she joined the faculty at Vanderbilt.
