Stephen Katz, MD, is Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Born and raised in Memphis, he attended The University of Texas, Austin, for his undergraduate degree in biology and The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio for medical school. After medical school he matched to Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University in St. Louis for emergency medicine residency. Here, he met his wife Lindsay, and after he completed a chief resident year, they moved to Austin where they were married. Dr. Katz has been working in the community for over a decade and joined Vanderbilt's Emergency Medicine Department at the Wilson County hospital in 2020.
On his days off from the emergency department, Dr. Katz enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, walking their labradoodle Tucker or reading fiction. He also enjoys cooking and developing recipes using his family as test subjects. He loves to exercise and has been doing Crossfit for over a decade. He finds this is the best way to work away any tension from the day.
